Some of the conversation was a bit stilted and clichéd,there were some awkward sentences with overused adjectives, but nothing that wouldn't be expected from a first time author.It was a story with twists and the plot development was sound, though there were some plot aspects could have been more developed.
Overall, a good book with very few editing mistakes and one I enjoyed reading. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Tremendous read! What a great story, gripping from the very beginning! There are stories that take you and put you right in the middle of the action and make you forget about what is going on around you. This is one of those stories. I could not and did not want to put this book down. I am looking forward to reading more from Edward Jakubik. He has true talent! Check out this book, you will be extremely pleased with the selection!
I started reading the electronic preview after I ordered the paperback version and got hooked so badly that I couldn't wait for the book to arrive in the mail I had to know what happened so I ordered the version too and read straight to the end in one sitting. It's been awhile since a book as grabbed me and gotten me like this one did. I've given the paperback to a friend who enjoys this genre as a gift. I can't wait for the next installment with Beck McManus! Great work, Mr. Jakubik!
This book scared the hell out of me! lol From the first page it pulled me in...a real "page turner"! Intense, suspenseful, horrifying at times! Kudos to the author... well written! I highly recommend this book if you like suspense and psycho thrillers!
Heart racing, spine tingling! Just a few words I'd use to describe The Doll Collector. Couldn't put it down. Absolutely worth staying up late to finish!!
A good freshman effort. The author spends a good amount of time letting us get to know his protagonist which I'm guessing means we'll see him in future works.
Overall it's got a quick pace and is quite intriguing; a real page turner. It occasionally gets a bit bogged down by naming every character, even the ones that are only there for one page.
It's violent at times, but not overly so, and never unnecessarily. Much more of a psychological thriller, which I enjoy.
I'll definitely get his next one.
After 34 years in law enforcement, I was thoroughly impressed with The Doll Collector, having read it on my . The author captured me early on with crisp and clear writing leaving me in eager anticipation about what was to come next. After but a few pages I not only identified with Beck but grew to understand and respect his role in law enforcement. This mystery soon had me despising the Eldiman brothers. Looking forward to the next Jakubik novel, hopefully with all of the twists and turns found in The Doll Collector.
Not a bad story, quick read. Picked it up on after the price drop. Finished it off in a few sittings while on vacation.
Found a lot of grammatical errors in my copy, among other types of errors. Ex "Many seconds past" (instead of passed). Or a street called Grand Street called Grand Avenue a few pages later. I don't know if these are just errors in my copy or how these errors even come about. I've just never seen that many in an ebook before. While slightly annoying, it didn't take anything away from the story. (I am available for proofreading at any time).
