As a man, I know that reading Barbara Taylor Bradford May be rather unusual. But I love family sagas and Ms. Taylor does not disappoint. Her writing is descriptive and well written. I will say that it would be wise to begin with A Womam of Substance before reading this novel , part two. My only critiscm is that there a lot of characters. I found myself confused at times and having to look at the family tree. I read this on my kindle which does provide a family tree but I also have the hardcover. Nevertheless, if you enjoy family sagas with lots of deama this is your book. Anxious to read To Be The Best, the third part in the series.

After reading the first book of this series ( Substance of a Women). I couldn't wait to read Hold the Dream . I am currently reading the 3 book of the Series . They are great ,hard to put down. I would suggest you read Substance of a Woman 1st. This way you can start from the very beginning of the characters lives.

Great continuation in the Harte Family Saga. If you enjoyed the first book you'll love this one. It can also be read by someone who hasn't read the first book because the author brings the reader up to date when past information is written.
What a book! I smiled, laughed, and I cried. Oh I cried so hard, my heart was breaking. It's such a poignant story. You can visualize the characters, the great homes they lived in, and the moors that Emma loved. I plan to finish the series and then read them again. (And I've already read the whole series in hardcover. ☺)
Once you get into the story, it is great, if a bit predictable. The saga of this family and the generations is fascinating over many books I have enjoyed. For some reason, this one was one I had not read, but except for a very slow beginning, the story is intriguing. It is a very long book, and you have to like this saga to enjoy the book. I could recommend it but with those caveats.
Barbara Taylor Bradford's "Hold the Dream" captures the attention and holds it from beginning to end. It is a continuation of the Harte Family Saga, which began with "A Woman of Substance". Book 2 does not cover as large a span of time as Book 1, it just picks up where the other left off. She creates characters that the reader does not want to let go of. I definitely would suggest reading A Woman of Substance first, because Hold the Dream refers to a lot of scenes in that book. I don't think you can enjoy the second books as much if you haven't read the first. Bradford is an excellent author, I would recommend any of her books that I have read. She's definitely a "chic's" author
I found myself loosing interest when author went on too long with descriptions as if she wanted to get in as many words as possible . I started skimming which I don’t usually do. Characters are good but often confusing as to who they are & hard to follow. I enjoy this authors story lines but just would like to see it tightened up a bit.
