I loved this short book. Handle and Della really took a chance and found what the6 needed in each other arms. Once the6 stopped second guessing themselves, everything started to fall in place. They even got some bonus good news to boot.

It may be too soon for Della to be wit( Handle without really working on what happened to her and finding new coping skills, but who are we to determine when someone. Is ready to move on. She found herself again with Handle, and it was wonderful to see.

This story torn my heart and then glued it back. Or more correctly Handle picked the pieces and made it whole again. That man.... I can't even come with the words to describe you how extraordinary he is. Liked Della, Handle has demons haunting him. It may be different kind, but no less painful. But despite all the pain, he didn't let it stop him to be there for Della. And damn if he didn't steal my heart in those moments again and again. Bye, my heart, it was nice having you while it lasted. But I'm not worrying. It's in the safe hands after all.
So glad to get the story on how Della healed! The Hawks series is such a great series and the fact that the two charters are so close with one another, you get to see characters from previous books from time to time.

Della's abuse at the hands of Jimmy and his cronies has left her broken. Handle's ol' lady being murdered due to his blood brother's involvement in something evil has left him unwilling to try a relationship again.

Yet, months of being her protection while everything blew over with regard to the situation with Jimmy have given him other ideas. Only, will Della go along?

Totally enjoyed it and cannot wait for the next installment in the Hawks MC series!
I’m a huge fan of Lila Rose’s Hawks MC series. Each hero and heroine she introduces readers to has his/her own ugly to contend…own past to torment him/her, but because Rose’s biker heroes always have their brothers to lean on and to help battle all of their internal/external demons, even when they don’t ask for the assistance or feel ready to face the fight that needs to take place, these alpha males learn to live in the present, letting go of the past and fighting for the future that they never knew they wanted or could have again.

Finn “Handle” Kaidion knows loss…he knows pain…he knows what it’s like to love and then have that love ripped from him, and he refuses to go down that road again; he doesn’t feel like he has anything to offer another woman nor is he will to shatter his heart any more than it already is…until Della.

Mardella “Della” Menti is just as tortured and damaged as Finn; she feels like she doesn’t have control of her life because the memories of what was done to her keeps her a prisoner…in her mind and in her body, but for some reason, Finn grounds Della; he makes her feel empowered and regardless of how messed up they both are and how much they fight their feelings and desires for one another, there comes a point when they realize that their connection just might bring them both into the light and perhaps bring in beauty amidst the ugliness of their pasts.

Break Out is the perfect title for Finn and Della’s story; they both need to escape the mental torment that plagues them and push through the barrier they’ve placed around their heart and Della, especially, needs to find a way to take back control of her body, deciding who she gives herself to instead of worrying that it will be taken without her consent. But the only way they can come to terms with their pasts is to no longer be chained to the memories of everything that occurred and while that trauma will never be fully erased, focusing on the present…fighting to live in the now and not run from the overwhelming feelings that seem to consume Finn and Della when it comes to their attraction to each other. 

It’s not easy to break free from the pain…from the guilt…from the darkness, but perhaps these two lost souls can come together step beyond the self-imposed prison they’ve used to cope with since their worlds were turned upside down due to other people’s actions.

4 Poison Apples
Oh Lila Rose, you did it again. For some time now, Rose's writing has been my go to if I need an adventure or even faith in men again. Each character is unique, no one is static, and it's never a less than 5 star read. The writing shows how enthusiastic she is about what she does. This story in particular was near and dear to my heart. About a year ago, I had to stay goodbye to one of my favorite authors. A story line about rape was written, and handled atrociously. It tainted everything else I read from that author, and I had to bid her farewell. With Lila Rose's heroines, never the case. In this particular story, Della had been through such terrible things Mentally and physically. But she had the will to live. To get help. And to finally let herself be happy after events that would be and have been life ending for many rape survivors. It wasn't easy, it wasn't sugar coated, but the girl was a bad ass that (SPOILERS) was so fed up with being out of control with her own body, her own sexuality, went into a hot biker's room and asked him for sex. With only her in control. And what was so friggin' cute was that her hot biker, Handle, said yes without hesitation. He had been though loss himself, and thought he'd never let himself love like he did before. It was fantastic that he was all in for a relationship before she was. This was, for me, a story of a woman who not only survived but thrived. And of the sexy man who loved her, and made sure that she understood that what happened to her was nothing to be ashamed of. That he thought of her as powerful for surviving, and only getting better. Thank you Lila Rose. For not only a fun, heart warming and hot read but to have something like this out on the virtual bookshelf. Because, god forbid, if someone has gone though what Della did, they can see the depiction of a BAMF woman who came out the other side looking at a bright future. Cannot wait for Poppy and Fang's story!!!
