So, this series started out well. Interesting characters, well proven winning storyline ( thank you, Janet evanovich!), But, beware of the next books in the series, they take a sharp downturn in quality control. ( ie: sudden changes in personality of characters, a jump in timeline that caused me to double check i hadn't skipped a book, a huge increase in f-bombs for no good reason and overall, an obvious transformation into a j. Evanovich clone in every. Single. Character.) just so you know what you're getting into. I have you agree the third book, as i realized it has turned from an interesting 'action/mystery' series into an annoying and crude romance, with all other aspects of the story taking a strong backseat. I can't even remember 'who dun it' in the last one. The redeeming factor is the crazy characters ( even as shadows of Stephanie plum) the outrageous and unexpected 'laugh out loud' comic scenes and, for the first book, the building romance. Enjoy this one, but don't expect the same with the next two.Tags : Whiskey Sour: An Addison Holmes Mystery (Addison Holmes Mysteries Book 2) - Kindle edition by Liliana Hart. Whiskey Sour An Addison Holmes Mystery Addison Holmes Mysteries Book 2 edition by Liliana Hart Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Addison is at it again, she seems to get into trouble on all her cases. Now out of her teaching job, she deals with two sexy men enforcing the law while she works her case. For her love life to get off the ground, though, she needs to get out of her mom's house but is tragically low on funds. Of the two, she has Nick she wants to get with and Matt the FBI agent flirting with her while she and Kate, her best friend work the case. Her men collide when her case ties in both Nick, and the local police, and Matt, and the FBI, must work together on her big case. Addison must work hard come out smelling like a rose this time. This is a great book with unique characters and hilarious situations and dialogue. I recommend everyone read it.
The books are good, fun, easy reads. A few grammatical errors that make me cringe, but otherwise entertaining. I bought them all and can't wait to read them, so that is saying something. The parallels between Joe and Nick, Matt and Ranger, Stephanie and Addison and Lula and ____ astound me. But since I read all those it is nice to have more.
What can you say about Addison, way too many things. I love this story line. The characters are great and humor rolls right along. This book opens with a doozy and the work up is just wonderful.
I cannot wait, no seriously, I don't want to wait a year for the next book. I inhaled this book, just like the first.
In this book our lovely Addison is not tripping over dead bodies and that's great. She does get tangled up with the FBI and one particular agent whom I believe will have more to add to the story in the next. ***fingers crossed*** Not that I really want him to become the main love interest. I believe he will do more with Addison's confidence and become someone she needs to have around and added to her ecclectic bunch of friends.
I also hope that Nick pulls his head out of the darker region of his hind parts, if he doesn't well then I guess it's a good thing Addison is good at shaking it off and moving on. Plus with the other hottie ready to jump in she won't have time to be drowning her woes in DQ blizzards.
I had seen another reviewer comment about how close these are to Janet's Stephannie Plum novels - so true. The first book is really good but from the second installment on it's like re-reading Evanovich all over again. I love Liliana's other books so this was a disappointment. If you haven't read any Evanovich books (Plum series) you will love this. Give it a try and see. I do like her writing style and her characters are well developed and "real".
I have to agree with some other reviewers--this story line and characters have been ripped from Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series, with lots of added sex. I enjoy the sense of humor in her writing and will probably read the next book, but if things continue down this road of sex being the main purpose of the story I will stop reading.
Whiskey rebellion is first series this is second one. I thoroughly enjoyed this author style of writing right along with my other favorites, deleon, evanovich, fern Michael ,cox, bond, etc.... A few others. Addison , detective agent in training find herself along with her boss, kate, who owns MacLean detective agency, along with cop detective, nick, involved with fbi agent, savage, to take down an espionage spy for the govt.
Book 2 in the Addison Holmes Mysteries. Be sure you read Whiskey Rebellion first! This book was just as good as the first! What could be better than accident prone Addison and Nick heating up the pages, throw in a hot native american savage - oops I meant Savage, as in Matt Savage - the leading FBI agent on the mystery at hand. And now a bit about the story...
It's been a few months since we last met Addison. Since then she has moved back home with mom and been on the outs with Nick after shooting him in the ass with a tranquilizer gun. As word comes down from the school board that she is out of a job she sets her sights on becoming a licensed P.I. When some Russian jewels come up missing and call girls are turning up dead in Savannah the FBI, Nick, Kate, and Addison set out of get to find the jewels and the murder. All the while Addison struggles between to Alpha men who both want her.
Favorite passages
- His muscles had muscles, and I was pretty sure it wasn't his gun pressing into my belly.
- Did I mention I was only wearing two small scraps of lace to cover my lady bits?
- I'd spent eighteen years in this house growing up, and in all those years I'd never heard those sounds coming through the wall.
Up next, just released, Whiskey for Breakfast book #3.
