Another wonderful book and fabulous series. Jacinda is a Draki that fell in love with Will, a Hunter, that has Draki blood. She was forced to bond with Cassian to keep from having her wings clipped. She feels responsible for Miram being taken by hunters and given to Enkros. She sets out to rescue her and she does this by posing as a prisoner.

Jacinda can sense what Cassian feels through the bond. But it doesn't change her feelings or want for Will. Her love for Will supercedes everything else. She goes into a horrible situation because she's a wonderful individual who cares about others. She doesn't really care for Miram but she's Cassian's sister and Jacinda feels some responsibility for her being taken. She wants to find Miram, get everyone back home, and then go find her mother and be free with Will.

Will loves Jacinda and will do anything to be with her. He just wants to get away from his family, start a new life with Jacinda, and be out of this life they both have been stuck in. He has moments where he doesn't know if Jacinda loves him enough to finally leave her Pride and life. He's a good man that cares about others and has amazing abilities.

Cassian loves Jacinda and thinks they are meant for one another. He knows that she loves Will and he definitely feels it since they are bonded. He goes with Jacinda, Tamra, and Will to retrieve his sister from the Enkros. He's a great man that cares about others and goes out of his way for them.

Definitely worth reading.

Hidden Firelight Sophie Jordan Books Reviews

I'd planned on skipping Hidden and after finishing it, I wish that I had. I read the first two (and ultimately the third) of the Firelight books because they were simple, easy and light -- the break I really needed from my hectic college schedule -- but at times, I found them to be incredibly infuriating and monotonous. I'd told myself that I wasn't going to spend the money on Hidden, that I didn't really need it and truth be told, I didn't really want it, but I broke down...unfortunately.

My greatest problem with Hidden was not the huge problem I'd had with Firelight and Vanish -- Jacinda's repetitive and dull narration. Hidden's real problem was that it didn't serve as the finale I'd hoped for. We find out what happened to Jacinda's father, but justice is never truly served. We never really understand what motivates the enkros, who have been the real "bad guys" through the series, or what makes them different from the hunters. Jacinda also spends the majority of the climax unconscious, which isn't entertaining and also feels like a cop out on the author's part.

The book's final moment left a lot to be desired as well. It was all too easy, as if nothing from the past two books had mattered. As a reader, it felt rushed and overly convenient. I won't spoil anything, but there is a lot of hand holding and oh-my-goodness aren't we all appropriately happy despite everything that has happened type moments.

My last problem was that I didn't think the novel had enough explanation. There were a lot of things I'd forgotten in the year since I'd read Vanish and a lot of things were just thrown in there as if I would remember them and then I was struggling to catch up. I don't think occasionally throwing in a modifier or explaining a situation really hurts a story, and I know that it would have helped me as a reader. I'm sure that some people would disagree on this point, but I know that I was struggling to remember finer plot points from the two previous stories.

2 stars for the series, barely 1 for Hidden.
I love Sophie Jordan, but I am notoriously disappointed in series endings and especially series that involve love triangles. Either someone ends up broken hearted (and if the author has done their job, this is hard for the reader), one of the love interests changes completely, or someone has to die to make room for the other love interest (which feels like cheating a little)...either way, I rarely read a satisfying conclusion to a love triangle. I really looked forward to seeing how this series would end and it was a letdown. I stayed up late into the night for the two days before release date re-reading Firelight and Vanish and remembering all the things I love about this series and Sophie Jordan's gift for bringing the romance to life. Nothing was wrong with the writing, but the plot just wasn't what I'd hoped.

*SPOILERS AHEAD*
I expected at least one if not all of the following
1-That Jacinda would find her father alive somehow.
2-That Will would actually be a draki somehow (through his mysterious mother's family line, maybe?)
3-That Tamra would find a love interest of her own.
4-That Cassian would somehow end up happy at the end (whether by ending up with Jacinda or dying as a self-sacrifice for love or finding a way to move on happily)

Since only one of these happened, I find myself a bit disappointed. Again, many people will probably disagree with me since it was well-written and there were some great insights into the enkros and hunters, but as a reader for the clean romance I left feeling very sad for Cassian who really won me over in Vanish.
Good book with a good story line. If you are not interested in breaking the rules for love this is not the book for you. It picks up right where the first one left off! Jacinda is a Draki (descendent from dragons). They can turn into human whenever they want. When they fly they do it at night because there are hunters trying to kill them. Jacida is the only firebreathing Draki in a really long time. The other Draki’s decide she should marry the Alpha’s son in hopes that the firebreathing will continue. She is forced to bond with him to avoid her wings being clipped. Through this bond they can feel what the other is feeling. She is in love with a hunter, Will, and tries to see him whenever she can. Another Draki, Miram, is taken by hunters, since she was fallowing Jacinda, and given to another group of people the Enkros. She goes on an adventure to rescue her.
