I wanted to like this book, I really did.It seemed like a neat concept: alternate universes where monsters are real, and doorways that allow these creatures to move though the universes at will. Mr. Price has some nice turns of phrase, and a knack for describing action well.
HOWEVER, the book was darn near impossible to enjoy due to all of the typos, misspellings, and grammatical errors. Mr. Price desperately needs to employ a good editor to clean up his mistakes and tighten up his plots.
I think my favorite spelling mistake in the book, mixed in among the various homonym errors like "to" for "too" (and there were dozens of them) was when he spelled "Leviathan" as "levitation". This was the most egregious example, but far from the only one.
Mr. Price also has either a very poor understanding of the use of commas, or terrible keyboard habits. There were dozens, DOZENS, of commas in utterly nonsensical places. Sometimes in the wrong place in a sentence that needed one, sometimes in sentences that had no need for a comma anywhere in them, and sometimes completely missing from a sentence that badly needed it in order to be understood.
Additionally, Mr. Price has issues with keeping the tense of his writing consistent. At one point early in the book he switched from present tense, to past tense, and back to present tense, all in a single paragraph.
Finally, his book is riddled with scenes and chapters that add nothing to the story or advance the plot. They are throwaway bits that have made it into the book for some reason.
I am shocked at the 5 star reviews that gloss over these errors that not only make reading his book unpleasant, but at times impossible.
Mr. Price has a great imagination, but he desperately needs to find an editor to help him produce his best work.
I will not be reading any more by him until he does so, and releases a updated, edited, and revised version of this one.

Unknown The Forsaken Series Book 1 eBook Phil Price Reviews
I bought Unknown not knowing what to expect and what a pleasant surprise. I was happy I did. As the first scene unfolded, I was drawn in by the visually descriptive writing. It was gruesome yet beautiful and hooked me instantly. I had to read on. The novel continues with the introduction of several characters and short snippets of their lives. It moves along to other times and other places and just when I started to wonder what was going on, the story started to coming together.
The author has a wonderful knack for storytelling. I was impressed with the interesting worlds he created and described in intricate detail. What a wonderful imagination. Not only were there vampires, demons, and strange beasts, there was also a lovely romance. I really enjoyed the ending but I do hope there is a sequel in the pipeline. Read it!
This book is so different from any I've read. If you like to be spooked and feel your neck tingle, Unknown is for you! The story is 'meaty' with so many good scenes and subplots that eventually come together, and the reader has an aha moment. Author Price takes his time setting his story up and I pictured him hunched over his computer as he wrote it, whispering,"Take your time dear Reader, have patience and you will be rewarded." And that's exactly what I felt as I began tying everything together, meeting characters for the first time and then meeting them again several chapters later. It does take a few chapters to get a grip of what's going on, but the author is forgiven because once you do, it is clear how everything meshes. It would be helpful to have clearer chapter headings so we know what year it was because this book jumps from the 1800s to the 1950s to present day, and at times it took a little work to recognize the scene. But the author did a great job of 'showing' and not 'telling' through his words
"The forest seemed to pulse with life as the trees were set in a morbid dance."
"She looked into the eyes of the man who was too close for her own comfort, and her breathing stopped dead. His eyes now glowed yellow in the moonlight, his skin a deathly pallor of grey. When his lips parted, revealing massive curved canines, her bowels voided, splattering the ground between her feet. She knew what she was looking at."
I recommend this book to readers who love horror mixed with fantasy, folklore, other worlds and dimensions, spirits, beasts, and unique characters. Like I said in the beginning, this story is meaty!
First I will say the book is hard to put down. But I will also say that it starts great, gets confusing, gets interesting again when you finally figure out what the hell is going on and then abruptly ends. A dictionary of British words may also help American readers. Man the ending just hits. Right when you think the hero is gonna save the girl, vanquish the villian it is over. What the crap!! So many loose ties which do NOT get wrapped up. No spoilers here just a real let down.
