The Date An unputdownable psychological thriller with a breathtaking twist eBook Louise Jensen

I know I'm in the minority here but I didn't care for this book at all. It started really well but then it became mundane and repetitive. The same thing kept happening over and over and over. The same actions, the same thoughts. I became bored very quickly and started reading another book, coming back to this one for a few more chapters at a time only because I wanted to see how it ended and lo and behold the big reveal was EXACTLY what I had figured out 20% into the book.

The Date An unputdownable psychological thriller with a breathtaking twist eBook Louise Jensen Reviews

I found this to be a most interesting, yet distressing story. An incident occurs immediately, but it was as though it was the middle of the story. The situation of the main character is terrifying enough, but you cannot, look forward because there is so much unknown looking backward. I could easily identify with the stress and the hopelessness of Ali's situation. Difficult to put down, highly recommended.
This was my 4th read from Louise Jensen and the 4th to blow me away not to mention my absolute favorite!

All Ali wants is to mend fences with the husband she is separated from but she lets her friends talk her into setting up an account for a dating app. One thing leads to another and before you know it.... Ali doesn't even recognize herself. No, literally! Ali isn't Ali when she looks in the mirror and that isn't where the lack of recognition ends. With her memory not wholly intact and the notes being left for her saying "Enjoy the date, Bitch?" and "Tick-Tock", Ali knows she must do all she can to remember what happened that night and just who is trying to tear her world apart. But does she really want to know?

You will NOT know who to trust as you make your way through the magic of The Date! I found myself trying to put myself in Ali's shoes and imagine what it must be like to not know your own face let alone not be able to identify your stalker, living in fear of the unrecognizable ALL.THE.TIME. Scary! I am not often a scaredy cat but each night I read this I had to read a familiar YA book for 15 minutes before bed so I didn't have nightmares!

You don't want to miss this one but you won't want to sleep with the lights off either!!

I highly recommend this book for lovers of any books! And I highly recommend someone pick this up and make it into a movie FAST!
Not a psychological thriller. It references Scooby Do and, unfortunately reads like Scooby Do. I had to push myself to finish and was sorry at every turn that I did.
Nope, I’m done just 70 pages in. I won’t finish it. Nothing has happened to advance the story, just constant talk about her diagnosis page after page after page after page after page after page.... you get my point
It took me a while to get into this one; but once I buy a book and it’s in my kindle queue, I feel an obligation to finish it. I liked the idea of the book, hence the purchase, but once I learned of Ali’s irreversible condition, I started to lose interest. The reason is that I don’t like stories where the main character is completely at a disadvantage to the point where it seems like they’re a sitting duck. Temporary amnesia is one thing, but Ali’s condition brought a loneliness and hopelessness that made it hard to see how she’d ever get to the bottom of what was going on.

However, once I got to around 35% of the book, interest began to build. I had some ideas as to what the end game would be, but not enough details to figure out why. Up until 70% of the book, I had a few different suspects. But then, I figured out who did it, just not the reason. The chapters leading up to the reveal are intense because you know Ali is on the cusp of answers.

Be advised that this is not going to be a book that leaves you with a pleasant taste in your mouth. All secrets and motives are revealed, which provides a resolve for the story; but there is as much pain in the end as there is in the beginning. This is a story where something awful happens in the present that is tied to something awful in the past, and the reader goes along for the ride to find out why. With that, it is well written and I didn’t feel as though I had wasted my time. I personally just like my books with more hope, even if there’s not a happy ending per se.
Ali recently separated from her husband. Her friends persuade her to start dating & she reluctantly agrees. She meets a man at a bar that she had communicated with on-line. She wakes up the next morning with bruises, a serious brain/head injury, dried blood on her hands & no memory of what happened the night before. Things go from bad to worse, when she realizes that she's unable to recognize faces, even those of close family & friends. There's quite a bit of damage to her car, her room-mate is missing & she's getting threatening messages from an unknown source. Of course, the police get involved. As the story unfolds & the suspense builds, we begin to connect the dots. We learn WHO is seeking revenge & WHY. I was completely blown away by the reveal.
