The way the book started out, I wasn't sure I was going to continue because I thought I was missing a few pages or chapters. But as I kept reading, I realized that there is a method to the way these stories are intertwining and to just sit back, relax, and enjoy the story. So I did.
I enjoyed seeing how strong Lora truly is beneath everything that happened to her and how her little girl was such a strong spirit behind her momma.
I loved how LNF righted the wrong the client had manipulated them into.
I loved Chad's family, but hated that floozy until the end of the book.
I loved how we saw the push and pull between Chad and his brother; the love and support his sister gave Lora and how his momma treated Lora and her daughter like family from the get go.
I love how a child can make a grown man melt at just a look, or a hug.
I love the brotherhood that is shown throughout these books.
I love, I love, I love.
I love that the book is light on the sex, but heavy on building the relationship, even if the love is nearly instant.
I hurt for Duncan trying to help a fellow veteran out while also denying himself some happiness.
I was SHOCKED at the end when (I'M NOT GOING TO SPOIL IT FOR Y'ALL, GEEZ... go get the book and READ it PLEASE!).

Embattled Home Lost and Found Book 3 edition by JM Madden Viola Estrella Romance eBooks Reviews
Did you know J.M. Madden is dangerous? What do I mean by that? I mean that once you pick up one of her books, she sucks you in until you have to read the next one. Seriously. I'd wanted to read this story for a little while, and it was definitely worth the wait. Chad co-owns LNF, Inc with Duncan and John Palmer, and he'd been watching Lori O'Neill for a while when he catches his client beating the living daylights out of her. That made his decision pretty quick, but his client's family wasn't giving up and it was getting scary. Ms. Madden handled the PTSD both characters suffer, the addition of having a child around, the insecurity of those who are missing limbs, and the real fear many battered women carry with them with regards to big men very well. I was hooked and invested. Plus, at the end she left a teaser for the next book, which meant I was invested in that as well and I hadn't even read it yet! I love Ms. Madden's LNF series and it will remain on my keeper list.
I read the rest of the LNF series before buying this book, largely because the description didn't do it justice. But, because I liked the rest and had run out of books in the series, I went back to this one and was pleasantly surprised. Though part of a series, the book can easily stand alone.
The story is about a combat modified Marine veteran, Chad, who is a partner at LNF. He has been watching a woman and her child for weeks on behalf of the ex-husband, Derek, who claims she is an unfit mother. But when Chad hears breaking glass and screams, he discovers the Derek beating and attempting to rape Lora, the woman who could win an award for mother of the year. Derek escapes and Chad feels responsible that Lora was attacked on his watch. Now he will do everything in his power to make it right.
Lora divorced her husband after years of abuse and has no idea he is having her watched. And it will take more than words for Lora to trust again, especially when her privacy has been invaded. But she will do everything in her power to keep her daughter safe, even if it means letting Chad and LNF take over their protection.
Chad, one of the owners of Lost and Found Investigations, is on a stakeout watching a wife who is thought to be cheating on her very rich husband. Chad has been there for days, but there hasn’t been any sign of any men. Instead, Lora seems to be frightened of something. One night he hears a sound coming from in the house and as he goes to investigate he hears Lora scream. He breaks in and finds his client beating the woman he was hired to watch.
Chad feels responsible for her and helps Lora and her daughter Mercy. Lora is embroiled in a custody battle for Mercy with Lora’s ex and his mother. Lora’s only guess as to why is that Mercy has some stock in the family company. Lost and Found decide they will give Lora any help she needs to protect herself and her daughter. Lora was brutally beaten and raped by her husband and his guards many times over the course of her marriage and is very bitter and suspicious towards all men, but she reluctantly accepts their help.
This story has quite a bit of action as men start trying to kidnap Mercy. Chad moves Lora and Mercy to his family land in Texas along with several of his coworkers, but they are followed and the action reaches a fever pitch. I thought there were an awful lot of people hired by her husband to get to the daughter. It seemed like there was basically an army out there, which doesn’t seem very likely. I’m pretty sure that engaging in a firefight and kidnapping is held against you in a custody battle.
