This needs better editing. There are many inconsistencies throughout for instance, in one scene a character starts off drinking brandy but a few lines down he's suddenly sipping tea. There are also plot problems. The main female antagonist is far too inconsistent and key statements are forgotten. For instance, during the scene where she discovers her aunt and uncle have been intercepting her mail and they complain about men asking for her at the door, she never pursues that information and it's more or less forgotten. If part of the plot includes her belief that the main male protagonist never looked for her or came to her rescue then that line and others would have said otherwise. Had these scenes/ plot points been properly explored and developed, the FMA would have been a stronger character more inline with her description as being very smart and highly intelligent. Had the plot been tighter, maybe we could have seen a proper handling of her family as well. It would have been nice to see them repent their behavior. Also, it would have been far more realistic for them to have been happy the Earl wanted to marry their previously "ruined" niece. The two female supporting characters, were also inconsistent and all supporting characters lied throughout the plot but were never properly dealt with. These were other plot points that just got lost. Explanations were provided from all characters for certain plot scenes but those explanations never came together to tie those scenes up properly. A lot of stuff was just left loose or got lost. It was also repetitive and annoying at times.
It's an ok novel but Read at your own risk. It could have been great if the editing was a lot tighter. I've read far better regency romances. Good thing I got this as a free download.

The Sweetest Revenge Dawn Halliday 9781482757446 Books Reviews
This is a must-read for fans of historical romances, specially those of the Regency Period. Usually, we have one heroine and one hero. This time, there are three women who are equally strong and they are all after one man with one thing in mind, revenge!
Leo, the Earl of Leothid is the "baddest" rake of them all! Three women - Isabelle, Susan and Anna, whom Leo compromised and ruined are out for blood. Abducting the Earl and keeping him in the cellar, the they conducted their sweet revenge.
The story is different from the usual Regency romances and quite frankly, some of the women's antics are actually surprising and inventive at times. The ending was surprising and it kept you hanging until the end!
Great book to curl up to during a cold winter night.
Rated PG 15 due to sex scenes.
Okay so I was reading this and a first I thought.. Mmmm don't think I like it too much. I thought the plot was being dragged out too long.. Then everything came together and when you finally realize everyone is pissed at Leo- the man whore- but the man who was basically lost without the love of his life and realized she was still around everything made sense!
Leo was typical man scorned and Belle was great only thing is I thought she could've stopped herself from that second round of torture by having more of a backbone to fight for her man.. Talk to him! Like they finally did! I loved the other characters and its so crazy how everyone was connected to the one character... Leo.. Scary but true. Everyone in the end got their revenge but the sweetest revenge of all was Belle against her enemies and I love it!!! Great read!
Alright, I must admit the premise of this book sounded fun. When I started reading it however, I was a bit put off, I guess is the right word. It wasn't exactly how I thought it would be and that's alright. This one for me though dragged on a bit. I do say, I skipped a few pages here and there just to get back to some action.
It seems like everyone had it out for Leo. Not just the three women who kidnapped him and trussed him up. I suppose he deserved most of what happened to him. He knew what the right thing to do was and yet he didn't listen to himself. I don't want to spoil it for anyone who wants to read this, I'll just say that a little forethought would have gone along way. I suppose it's ultimately best he didn't listen to himself but still.
I suppose if we skipped a lot of boring parts it would have been a lot better. I did and I still got the idea of the story. For me this wasn't terrible but it wasn't amazing either.
The summary intrigued me. It's true that we rarely see the consequences of these storybook rakes some of us love to, well, swoon over. Dawn Halliday does a fine job of demonstrating how the women a rake leaves behind can be wounded in body and spirit.
The "surprise" wasn't a big surprise to me, but it was still sweet. And though I cringed inwardly at some of the revenge tactics acted out, I also understood how they might even serve a purpose. Indeed, I believe they did.
Our Heroine, Isabelle, is plucky but shy, pretty but untoward, and in the end I liked her. Not because she was perfect, but because she was human. Our Hero, Leo, is of course The Rake in question. You cannot like the man he made himself, but his reasons have their own strange sense. And his determination to do anything to win Our Heroine's love is praiseworthy.
Overall, a gripping story. Unique and unforgettable.
The writing cannot be faulted. This author knows how to tell a story so well you can feel like you are part of it. My rating has to do with story preference. I do not like the hero to have any sexual interactions with other than the heroine intended for him...even if it's unwilling participation. Call it prudish but I want the characters to be exclusive. The same goes for the heroine. I just didn't like some of the interactions going on with some of the characters and for that reason, I gave it 4 stars. I guess I thought it lost some believability and that was disappointing.
I felt the premise of the story was interesting and different but overall I didn't end up liking certain aspects of it. In fact, each women in the story contributed in their own way to the very situations in which they eventually blamed and sought revenge for. Nothing is ever that one sided as they were willing participants.
